Sunset Hill | Sixty acre cemetery Started in 1868 City property |

his summer as I have gotten into better physical shape, my runs must get longer. It is always a challenge to find an interesting and safe course. The city cemetery is a good addition to the route – very well maintained, very low traffic levels. When Sunset Hill began in 1868 it was only 13 acres and 200 graves were relocated from an even older local cemetery. Initially lots were sold for ten dollars apiece. Early on goats were brought in for cemetery upkeep. Now there is a small armada of workers with mowers that seem to be active every time I run through and are the only living people I generally encounter.
