T here is no universal criterion of what defines an image as art, but the drive for art is inventiveness. Images are made to stimulate a viewer's response: the senses, mind and spirit. An artwork can therefore be evaluated by the quantity of stimulation provoked - the extent of response based on impact, appreciation, popularity, and how these attributes evolve over time. The audience is critical and always exists in a cultural environment.
