Trail

   Tree tunnel
Stretching to horizon
Vast passageway preserve

B icycling on the Katy Trail may be the single superlative opportunity of living in this area. Two hundred and twenty five miles of well maintained state park that crosses Missouri, this resource is a genuine jewel. The more I ride it, the more I appreciate it. Recently I have adjusted my photographic and biking equipment to make infrared capture a practical technique along the trail. In this effort, the purchase of a Gitzo carbon fiber monopod is a big improvement in convenience and versatility. It collapses to 14.3 inches and weighs less than a pound. This is going to be a good summer.

“Every photograph that is made whether by one who considers himself a professional, or by the tourist who points his snapshot camera and pushes a button, is a response to the exterior world, to something perceived outside himself by the person who operates the camera. - Eliot Porter
