one plate photography is intriguing and I plan on spending time this summer exploring the possibilities. Invented by John William Strutt in the 1870s, a zone plate is composed of miniature concentric opaque and transparent rings resembling a target. Mounted on my Canon 5D in place of a lens, the zone plate diffracts light causing constructive and deconstructive interference thus forming an image at the sensor plane. This method of radiation modification makes unique and beautiful dreamlike renditions.
