A rt schools place high value on the concept of conceptual art. In an attempt to define what this means, I have come up with the following. Something conceptual exists only in the mind or imagination: chimerical, fanciful, fantastic, imaginary, notional, unreal, and visionary. It can be represented by an abstract or general idea derived or inferred from specific instances or occurrences. This covers a lot of ground.

“On the other hand, the concept owes its meaning and its justification exclusively to the totality of the sense impressions which we associate with it.” - Albert Einstein
