T he practice of consumption, especially of unnecessary and potentially harmful products, is promoted and sustained by a prevalent symbolic environment. Without the influence of cultural exposure and pressure, it is doubtful anyone would purposely inhale smoke. This image attempts to extract visual order out of a bombardment of messages aimed at affecting individual behavior. Advertisers and politicians know they can influence people to do ridiculous things, like relinquish their money or freedom, for nonsensical ideas.
