Wide Alley

   Compatible with one's interests
Passageway between behind
Walls on both sides

A lley's can be found all over the urban landscape, in both small towns and large cities. This one is in Odessa, Missouri captured with the Zenitar 16mm wide angle fisheye. I tend to gravitate to alleys as I find them to be visually interesting and frequently good representations of the character of a community. Reduced usage and neglect of alleys can result in their decline contributing to an increase in aberrant fringe activity. Society has a tendency to absorb and mainstream the margins over time.

“The places we have known do not belong only to the world of space on which we map them for our convenience. None of them was ever more than a thin slice, held between the contiguous impressions that composed our life at that time; the memory of a particular image is but regret for a particular moment; and houses, roads, avenues, are as fugitive, alas, as the years.” - Marcel Proust
