t is always remarkable how moving a few feet can change our external sensation and subsequent internal perception. This diptych demonstrates this simple method of shifting reality and sets-up a vertical comparison dialog. It is an image that incorporates my main interests in photography; the study of energy, matter, space and time. These concepts and their interrelationships are the essence of existence and are ultimately spiritual at their core. Artistically and intellectually they offer endless fascination in the quest for knowledge.
“In a photograph, if I am able to evoke not alone a feeling of the reality of the surface physical world but also a feeling of the reality of existence that lies mysteriously and invisibly beneath its surface, I feel I have succeeded. At their best, photographs as symbols not only serve to help illuminate some of the darkness of the unknown, they also serve to lessen the fears that too often accompany the journeys from the known to the unknown.” - Wynn Bullock
