I t is a revelation when some entity regularly encountered is suddenly seen in an entirely novel way. I have passed by these buildings hundreds of times on my runs and walks, but this combination of line, color and geometry was brand new. Does this represent a rare event, or does it articulate a deeper understanding and enhanced perception? Perhaps a combination of both, but regardless I will now be on the lookout for similar occurrences in the future.

“When I have seen or sensed – I do not know which it is – the atmosphere of my subject, I try to convey that atmosphere by intensifying the elements that compose it. I lay emphasis on one aspect of my subject and I find that I can thus most effectively arrest the spectator's attention and induce in him an emotional response to the atmosphere I have tried to convey.” - Bill Brandt
