Radiant incandescence

B ack in my early photographic history, prior to attending RIT, I was interested in slide sandwiches. I built a light-box copy-stand apparatus, and would select various 35mm transparences and physically combine them by reprography through a macro lens. Of course multiply was the only available blending mode, so overexposed original images worked best. The process was relatively crude and always involved dust tribulations. Digital editing has greatly refined visual layering with a slew of useful blending modes and sophisticated masking. I now occasionally photograph subjects with the intention of such treatment.

“Ultimately, my hope is to amaze myself. The anticipation of discovering new possibilities becomes my greatest joy.” - Jerry Uelsmann
