O
ne of my colleagues expressed interest in the layered images I have recently been creating. He related the effect to a “euro-distressed” look he was fond of, and was curious how the result was achieved. So I went out on campus yesterday afternoon and made some image captures providing raw material to demonstrate the technique. The campus of UCM is small but features lots of nice architecture and is very well maintained. Since the school has been in existence since 1871, many buildings are historic and unique. This is a shot of the administration building, layered with close-ups of oxidized paint and textured cement.
“The Administration Building is one of the oldest and most recognizable on campus. Its impressive Gothic entry and towers are among the best-known UCM landmarks. The building opened in 1916 and is home to the Office of the President, as well as the offices of Academic Affairs, University Advancement, Student Affairs, Student Financial Assistance, Revenue, Student Accounts, Human Resources, Institutional Research, Strategic Planning and Assessment, and University Relations.” - UCM public relations
