New Direction

   Technology assimilation
Innovative synergy
Expanded possibility

Y esterday I received my new Canon 5D camera and immediately began to use it. The first thing I experimented with was a pinhole fashioned from a body cap. The essential principles of image formation by small apertures were known in antiquity. In his1856 book The Stereoscope, the Scottish scientist Sir David Brewster first described radiant sensitive exposure through a pinhole. Today's post is shot with such an optic at six seconds and an approximate aperture of f185. The full frame CMOS sensor benefits this marriage of basic image forming technique and digital photography. I am fascinated by integrating old and new technologies and testing scientific theory against aesthetic results. Much more of this to come.
