state fair midway is such a chaotic and quickly assembled affair, it is a challenge to isolate elements and spatially compose. This is, of course, part of its appeal as photographic subject matter, along with the outlandish colors. Yesterday I drove by the broad expanse of empty asphalt prairie that contained all this commotion just last month, and contemplated transitory environments.
