L omography. Recently I have become interested in images that are made by inexpensive toy cameras. These cheap devices have a legion of loyal devotees who embrace the technical shortcomings as benefits. Bad optics and light leaks are the primary flaws, but nevertheless the resulting images can have a certain charm and distinctive look. By employing a cheap plastic lens, the images generally feature large amounts of edge distortion whilst keeping the center relatively sharp. It is all about experimenting and looking for unexpected results. In incorporating this aesthetic into my visual repertoire, my first approach is to use digital image editing to replicate the effect.

“There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept.” - Ansel Adams
