M any of my images address the interface between influences of humans relative to the rest of the natural world. Here is an image that directly symbolizes the “hand of man” and the effects of aging over time.

“Over the short span of the last 200 years, human society has progressively imposed increasingly more diverse and complex disturbances and stresses on North American ecosystems than those under which ecosystems naturally evolved. With the advent of European-style society in western North America, and especially with the large and rapid increases in population and cultural growth in recent decades, the ranges and extent of human caused disturbances on ecosystems have grown as a result of two primary kinds of activities:
1) Construction-development-extraction enterprises; and
2) Inappropriate land management policies.
Each decade the impact of these disturbance-causing activities by society are growing in intensity and geographic extent at dramatic rates.”
