Disk Geometry

Color form organization
Uncertain cause

O n the top surface of an old rusty steel barrel I found this odd little design. It has a radius of about two inches, and was the only distinctive mark on the top. The rust creates a textured granular feel to the image. I really enjoy making abstractions out of reality by removing context. This image is not something I would have conjured up solely from imagination and has a natural organic feel about it. Things like this make me wonder how and why they come into existence.

“Abstract literally means to draw from or separate. In this sense every artist is abstract... a realistic or non-objective approach makes no difference. The result is what counts.” - Richard Diebenkorn
