Bulb

   As if on signal
Contemplate meaningless things
With unexpected fragility

T he subject of this image is a section of a roadside advertisement sign that had a series of lights arranged around its edge. The lights originally were designed to blink sequentially to attract attention. The sign was found in the parking lot of a sign company in Clinton, Missouri. In addition to the one I photographed, there were a number of other signs scattered about, either destined for repair or retirement. I particularly like the crescent shapes created by the circular holes and the bulb.

“The two most engaging powers of a photographer are to make new things familiar and familiar things new.” - W. Thackeray
