   Infinite sea and sky
Beyond imaginable
Boundaries

T his is an image that I posted on Flickr last month. It has proved to be relatively popular, with ten people making it a favorite. I decided to post it to latentsifier today so I could put a clean link to it on the INSPIRATION photo challenge page for the category of infinite sea and sky.

The image was made as an experiment involving post processing. The sky was duplicated into a new layer, then flipped vertically and moved down over the water and ice. The moved layer was then put in a color blend mode and the opacity was reduced to subtlety add color embellishments complementing the sky.

“How much farther will you lead me on, Lady beautiful?
Tell me where will finally land your golden boat?
Whenever I ask you, Lady of far-off land,
you only flash at me your dulcet smile.
I do not know what thoughts stir in your mind.
Silently you lift your finger
and point to the infinite sea which heaves.
In the far west the sun hides behind the sky.
What lies there? What is it we go to seek?”
- Rabindranath Tagore

That planetary seascape is quite beautiful, Wilson! No wonder you are getting rave reviews on it. It looks like a great salt plain making up the shore of timeless sea.
