Azalea | Flowering shrub Blooming all at once Flashy spring display |

entral Missouri State University is blessed with a beautiful and well maintained campus. On just about any day, I can take a break and walk around with my camera and find things to photograph. It is fun to revisit seasonal scenes that I captured in years past, to see how things have changed. I shot this image today, as the oak trees in the Quadrangle have just sprouted small delicate light green leaves. This makes a great backdrop to the Azaleas in full bloom. For some reason, many of the Azaleas have been dug-up and relocated since last year. But this lone bush remained from the group captured in last years image.
Things are constantly changing, but also remaining the same in the flow of time. Lots to think about on a pleasantly warm and sunny day, as I take a short vacation from my problems. The best time to trim an azalea is immediately after it blooms.
“It's a wonderful shrub, the azalea:
If you plant it in sand, it won't fail ya;
It has blooms by the score,
And a scent to adore;
And it doesn't have thorns to impale ya.” - Brian Cairns
