any United States flags adorn houses and businesses in Independence, Missouri, the location of this slice of Americana. This flag proclivity may be due to the Harry Truman connection, as this is where he grew up and where he retired after his presidency. Or it could just be people there like flags. In any event, frequent readers of these pages know I am working on a flag series.
As I happened on this scene, the posing cat was a bonus. I didn’t even notice him/her initially; but as soon as I spotted him/her I knew he/she must be included in the shot. The cat was very patient as I adjusted my viewpoint and framed the shot, but ran off after one exposure. I wasn’t able to get a model release.
If you look closely, you can identify my reflection in the glass of the front door. Did I mention that I also have a self-portrait series in the works?
