Filament | Fine tungsten wire Electric incandescence Curb appeal |
M y good friend Tom and I spent much of today out photographing in two locations. First we went to Independence and then finished up at Pleasant Hill. It is always enjoyable to slide a one gig compact flash card full of fresh images into the computer and review new work. This image is the first I processed from this outing. More will follow. When looking through 300 plus new images, it is interesting which ones are selected first for individual consideration.
The subject is a section of an abandoned roadside advertisement sign that had a series of lights arranged around its edge. The lights originally were designed to blink sequentially to attract attention. The sign is now in awful shape, with pieces missing and the exterior covered with spay paint, rust and grim, but still had one light bulb intact. I liked the detail of the filament and the shape of the bulb in relation to the circular lens-less holes.
