A rchitectural photography is wonderful because of the variety and availability of subject matter. This building I found in Boonville. The combination of the structural lines and intricate sculptural detail make for a promising subject. Throw in strongly directional late afternoon lighting and the image beckons. As usual, I made several shots exploring different compositional arrangements, and decided this was the most successful.

A skilled architect is a fanatic for detail and some of the most attractive parts of a structure are best captured out of context. Here an oblique camera angle seems appropriate, with cast shadows setting the mood.

“Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.” -Don McCullin
