Windsor Water Tower | Old Style Gravity fed Pressure generator |
F rom the looks of the design, this water tower appears to be approximately a century old. Water pressure is very reliable when stored in a large, elevated tank of water. Each foot of height provides 0.43 psi (pounds per square inch) of pressure. A typical community water supply maintains between 50 and 100 psi, depending on demand that varies throughout the day. The water tower must be tall enough to supply that amount of pressure to all homes and businesses in the service area.
Windsor dates from the mid 1850's, with many old buildings still in service in the small central downtown sector. The latitude is 38.532N. The longitude is -93.521W. The estimated population is 3,300.
“Windsor is a wonderful place to visit, relax, shop, recreate, or perhaps you'll find yourself like so many others who have decided that Windsor was just too charming to leave.......Feel free to make Windsor your home, we'll welcome you neighbor!” - Chamber of Commerce

Oh, Wilson, you know how much I enjoy water towers! Must be some kind of subliminal thing . . . What a peaceful scene and pleasant message. The time of day is yesteryear-late-afternoon. The "Curves" logo emphasizes the curvalinear forces of window treatments, streetlamps and water tower playing against the rectangular elements of doors, windows, bricks and buildings within this image.
The architectural and structural details in the brickwork and "erector set" metalwork of the water tower reveal that the original designers of this scene were deliberate and proud of their craftsmanship.
