Juxtaposition | In dialogue Pond ice Tree silhouette |
T he bare branches of winter are appealing in their subtle but complex organization. I particularly like the way branches are played against other spatial elements. Here we have a thin partial layer of melting ice and open water forming a stylish interface line in the background. The diffuse surface of the ice contrasts nicely with the highly reflective water. The whole ensemble exudes intangible overtones.
The image was captured on an evening excursion to Pertle Springs, an area featuring a series of several small ponds in Warrensburg. Over the course of approximately an hour I made 280 exposures, so expect to see more images from this shoot as post-processing continues.
“The tree rustled. It had made music before they were born, and would continue after their deaths, but its song was of the moment.” - E. M. Forster
