ere is a photograph of a section of the rear wall of the “Hong Kong Express” restaurant in Warrensburg. Looks like there was an electrical junction box or maybe some kind of lighting fixture attached here that was subsequently removed. Geometric asymmetry coupled with interesting colors and a few random shapes are the elements that attracted. This is another example of isolating a subject and thus through de-contextualization creating new visual relationships and meaning.
I frequently find the back of buildings more interesting than the fronts. The real character of a municipality is more reveled in the alleys and less traveled byways than in the manicured town square. I like the edges and fringes of things; interface boundaries are often charged with tension and dynamic energy.
