O n the lookout for horizontals and verticals, a grid work of elemental shapes and textures, illustrating the importance of harmonious fractional division. The rectangular fundamental grid as delineated can be divided and then subdivided infinitely. How this division relates to the whole is critical in functional visual composition.

Psychologists hypothesize our brains process organized information much quicker than disorganized information. We see a recurring pattern, recognize it rapidly, and then assume it applies to an entire configuration. Incorporated small areas of contrasting color relieve the monotony of a purely rectilinear design. Modular building blocks extracted and rearranged to integrate traditional precedents with new collective demands and technological possibilities.
