Pipe Circles

   Pages from my scrapbook
Seem to appear out of nowhere
We have performed this ritual before

M ost photographers are never bored when pursuing their craft and everything they learn enhances and refines their process. Some feel that photography encourages an "acquisitive relation to the world" that promotes "emotional detachment." I agree with the first part, but in my case I find photography promotes an emotional connection to the environment that fosters awareness and greater understanding. This contributes greatly to the satisfaction of image making. Operating on a purely visual level, my response to sensation is both rational and emotional. My goal for the end result is a amalgamation and symbolization of experience.

“Searching is everything - going beyond what you know. And the test of the search is really in the things themselves, the things you seek to understand. What is important is not what you think about them, but how they enlarge you.” -Wynn Bullock
