H ere I am exploring the notions of beauty by capturing images of the idealized woman.
Realism is the opposite of idealization. Idealization is the representation of things according to a preconceived opinion of what is desirable. This is a kind of aesthetic distortion used to produce romanticized and exaggerated forms. A possible motive for idealization is to construct appearance as if the world were perfect. Of course the world is not perfect.

One of the common themes of Postmodernism is that realism - the notion of an unmediated presentation - is impossible.

  • All truth is limited, approximate, and is constantly evolving

  • No theory can ever be proved true (theories can only be proved false)

  • No theory can ever explain all things

  • Thus absolute and certain truth that explains all things is unobtainable

Postmodernism denies the existence of an objective reality, and assumes that reality is in the mind of the beholder. We all create our own truth, under the influence of our sensory functions and social experiences. Every culture has its values and ways of looking at things, thus we are conditioned by our own culture and language towards certain assumptions and conclusions.

"A picture is the expression of an impression. If the beautiful were not in us, how would we ever recognize it?" - Ernst Haas
