S uccessful photographers are those who are most critical about their own work. In this regard, image making isn't only about equipment and processes, but about ideas and associations. With personal work, if it things don't come out as desired, you can go back and try again. You can hone your vision through experimentation and experience.

"A Photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know."- Diane Arbus

With my ongoing series of motion blurs, I am exploring time as embodied by the correlation of tone and color smears. I search for harmony with the subject and the rhythm of particular movements, represented by the balance of streaked areas relative to more distinct areas. There is a paradox in basing a photographic venture around the idea of what we cannot see or do not quite see, but can render. An awareness of perhaps something at the edges of our vision field but beyond an exact mental construct. There is always an element of uncertainly and happenstance that makes this style of cature fun.
