Circles of Confusion | Reflected light in all directions Scattered unfocused rays Cone interrupter |
T oday's image is a layered composite of two captures taken of the base of a sign at the entrance of “Science City” at Union Station. The sign base is a large hollow rectangular structure made of some sort of mat finish sheet metal with a regular repeating grid pattern of two inch holes. The two shots are of displaced sections and thus are out of register and a layer blending mode of difference is set in the image editor.

I am interested in using all available tools and methods to create images. By developing skill in one area, (say pinhole photography for example), I feel I improve my skills in another (say photogravure printing). Digital imaging is simply one of the many tools available. As I learn new processes, this knowledge enhances my conceptual ability and broadens my visual language.
All photographs are abstractions made by humans responding to stimulus through a physical manifestation resulting from controlling the imaging process. Any given visual statement may call for more or less control depending on intent. I do not feel constrained to limit my approach to image making by thinking only certain controls have validity.
